Adobe AIR Security Model
This article explains the Adobe AIR Security model. Before you start developing your application you should read it. It gives a nice overview about the different security sandboxes, HTML security considerations, and lots of other stuff.
Your application will have more privileges than a standard web application, but still the runtime does not give you full access and only a limited and restricted set of API calls are available.
